Rezeki, rezeki, rezeki!!!

Alhamdulillah,

-Bonus for FY '10 is out...

-Hardship allowances during peak periods (from Jan '11-May '11)

Kenny Rogers Roasters - The Curve

It all started when my hubby came across this ad....

Hence, that was exactly what we had for dinner....

Chicken & Pasta Meal (MYR 18.90)

Additional drinks...

Mango Magic Yoghurt (MYR 11.90) & Caramel Choc (MYR 11.90)

Complimentary muffins....

MYR FOC

Ok, verdict please....DRUMROLL.......

6/10 (B)!!!

Why so low?

For the simple fact that,

-I cook the spaghetti so much better.
-There was nothing special about the chicken. Tasteless and lacked seasoning.
-A bit overpriced for the chicken & pasta meal.

Any plus points?

-Decor was alright.
-Muffins were great (as usual).
-Service was great.
-Drinks were lovely.

Old Asia Cafe - One Utama

What attracted me most about this was it had a roast DUCK on display. I haven't eaten duck for ages! Checked out the HALAL certificate, it seems authentic. Hence, I persuaded my husband to have our dinner there.

The decor....

Affordable food (what I had)...
Fruiti Roast Duck Set (MYR 13.90)

What my hubby had...
Teriyaki Chicken Set (MYR 13.90)

Verdict given by US????

7.5/10 (A-)
Reason being?

-Food had the decent flavor and right seasoning (I'm starting to sound like a Masterchef/Top Chef judge)
-Clean ambiance and decent decor
-Reasonably priced food

(FYI, i googled Old Asia Cafe and it had a bad review on one of those blogs. Looking at the date 2007, I guess it had improved alot since. Looking forward to more ducks. Anyone who has info on where to get halal CRISPY DUCK, appreciate if you could assist me here. Been CRAVING forever!!!)

Zakat - Cleansing

Zakat (a definition in  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zakat): one of the 5 Pillars of Islam, is the giving 2.5% of one's possessions (surplus wealth) to charity, generally to the poor and needy. It is often compared to the system of tithing and alms, but it serves principally as the welfare contribution to poor and deprived Muslims, although others may have a rightful share. It is the duty of an Islamic community not just to collect zakat but to distribute it fairly as well.

In Malaysia, each country has a respective Zakat Department/counter to collect these zakat. Just present:

a) payslips/EA form
b) current bank statements
c) any documentation on other loans obligated to pay

In doing this before 31 December 2010, we can get a rebate on the annual tax return 2011. They are opened Saturday and Sunday too (9am - 3pm) up to 31 December 2010.  So, hurry up and grab the chance of cleansing urself now! :) http://web.e-zakat.com.my/baru/

My dollhouse

About a year ago, owner of this dollhouse wanted to make her lifelong dream come true.

A wooden cottage dollhouse. (MYR 499)

She first came across it when she sighted it on display at Toys'R'Us Hartamas. After queries about the price, and thinking that the bonus will be arriving soon, she decided the dollhouse was worth it after all. Hence, she dragged the dollhouse inside her car (note: she had to drag it coz it was superheavy). Leaving to her other handy-manny half to read the manual and put it together (really she is hopeless at constructing), the dollhouse was finally put together.
Here are some sneakpeeks of the inside view of the dollhouse:

Toilet.

Living room.

          Master bedroom.

Kitchen.

The attic.

After a while, she thought, the dollhouse had furnitures and all, but lacked occupants. She wanted dolls in the 1st place, but after she came across the Sylvanian Families series http://www.sylvanianfamilies.com/index.php?, she was more interested in purchasing the Keats cat family. Hence, the dream of owning a dollhouse with its occupants are finally realized. She can now sleep in peace.

For Subway Lovers

Good News To All Subway Lovers...

Calendar 2011 is out. Purchase above MYR 20 now and get a calendar filled with fantastic coupons every month (for Pusat Bandar Damansara branch...not sure for other branches though). EAT RIGHT, STAY HEALTHY! :)

The Teapot Cafe

It was a Saturday night. We both so called losers were still at office, doing work, as usual. Hungry, I suggested The Teapot Cafe to my work-late buddy Mar, for dinner. Passed across it many times since I was young as it is situated in my 'kampung'. Luckily, she agreed. Hence, we made our way to 169 Jln SS2/24 PJ to try out this restaurant. Was the 1st time 4 both of us. Trying our luck, I didn't know whether it was closed...But TADAAAA!

It was OPENED. Ok. So we entered, browsed through the recipe book, served by handsome guys in green, we chose these desserts first...

ECLAIR (MYR 2.00) & SCONES (MYR 3.90)

NEXT, the meal that Mar chose was...

TRADITIONAL MEE BANDUNG (MYR 9.90)

I had...
 ROSEMARY THYME CHICKEN(MYR 20.50)

According to a handsome waiter (must be an SPM leaver waiting for results/high school student doing part-time coz he looked so young), this restaurant exists since 15 years ago. And still standing strong.

I don't think it is surprising because looking at the:

1) warm Cottage-like ambiance,

2) cosy chairs to rest upon,

3) good & fast service by the handsome but shy waiters (that is why they were not in the pictures...go figure :P)

4) reasonably priced food

5) superbly delicious food (thinking of trying to cook the Rosemary Thyme Chicken at home)

6) modest variety of western + traditional food

7) It's HALAL!!!

HOWEVER, the DRAWBACKS for this restaurant include:

1) The recipe book is so old. (It's time to get a new one!)

2) Food runs out fast. (By the time we got there-around 8 ish pm, most of the recipes were already finished).

3) Limited opening time:
Mon: 12pm - 6.30pm (no dinner)
Sun & Public holidays: Closed
Other days: 12.00 pm to 10.00 pm

Hence, verdict given by Work-Late Buddies are...I see smiling faces!!!
7.5/10 (An A - ) !!!

We each managed to put a smiling face while working throughout the lonely, cold night at the office. :)

(P/S: For more info, please contact The Teapot Cafe at 03-78753024 If I'm not mistaken they also do caterings)
